Draft — needs lawyer review. These terms are a working draft and are not yet in effect.
Terms of Service
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Pistonhouse HQ (“Pistonhouse HQ,” “we,” “us”) for the PITVUALT app, the PITVUALT Link device, and this website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.
1. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older to create an account. A parent or guardian may add a minor driver as a parent-managed profile and is responsible for that profile.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account and your teams.
- Team owners control who joins their team and what role they have.
2. Your content
You own your setups, notes, photos and other content. You give us a limited license to store, process, sync and display it only to run the Service for you and the people you share it with. Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to share. Track condition reports you submit may be shown to other users.
You can export your data at any time and delete your account in the app. Downgrading your plan never deletes your data.
3. Subscriptions and payments
- Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Prices shown are launch pricing and may change; we’ll tell you before a change affects your renewal.
- There is no free trial. Promo codes may unlock a paid plan for a set time and end on their stated date unless you subscribe.
- In-app purchases are governed by the store’s terms, including refunds. Annual plans bought on our website are billed by Stripe; contact support for refund requests.
- Founders pricing applies to the first 300 eligible Pro annual subscribers and continues only while that subscription stays active without a lapse.
- Viewers are free. Extra seats on Crew are billed per year.
4. Rules checks, calculators and setup information
The tech check compares the values you enter against class limits loaded in the app. Presets may be incomplete, out of date or interpreted differently by your track. The Service does not certify that a car is legal. Check your class rules; the tech official decides. Calculators and shared setups are reference tools; you are responsible for how you set up and race your car.
5. AI suggestions
AI crew chief answers, photo-scan readings and AI logos are generated automatically and can be wrong. Suggestions only — check your class rules. Review every value before you save or apply it. Don’t generate logos using other people’s trademarks.
6. Safety gear reminders
The driver hub tracks dates you enter and sends reminders. It does not inspect, certify or guarantee the condition or legality of any gear. Follow the manufacturer, your sanctioning body and your tech official.
7. PITVUALT Link device
- The device is a diagnostic aid for reading codes and engine data in the pits. It is not live telemetry and is not intended for use while racing where your rules prohibit on-board devices.
- Device rules shown per track are our best information and may be wrong or out of date. You are responsible for following your track and class rules, including removing the device before competition if required.
- Install and use the device only on a vehicle you’re allowed to work on, following the included instructions. Hardware warranty and return terms are provided with the device. [To be finalized.]
8. Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the Service: no illegal activity, harassment, spam, scraping, reverse engineering, attempting to access other users’ data, or false track reports. We may suspend accounts that do.
9. Crew feed comments, pit check-ins and gear listings
These features may not be available to everyone yet. If your team uses the crew feed or pit check-ins, or if you post gear listings or send listing messages, this section applies to you.
Community rules
Before your first comment, check-in, listing or message, the app asks you to agree to these rules:
- Keep it about racing.
- No harassment, slurs or threats.
- No personal info about anyone.
- Nothing about minors outside your team.
- We remove what breaks these.
Removal and suspension
We may hide or remove any comment, check-in, listing or message, and suspend your access to commenting, check-ins, listings, messages or your account, if we believe it breaks these terms, the community rules or the law, or puts someone at risk. Some content is held automatically for review, for example when it trips our word filter or several people report it. We may act without notice where safety requires it.
Reporting and blocking
You can report any comment, team, listing or message in the app (tap ⋯ or press and hold, then Report), block a person or team, or email support@pitvault.io. A person reviews reports; we aim to review each one within 24 hours, and reports involving a minor are handled first. Law enforcement requests go to the same address.
Pit check-ins
Check-ins are optional and never use GPS. While your team is checked in at a track (up to 12 hours, or until you check out), teams checked in at the same track see your team name, class and car number — nothing else. Teams with a minor driver profile can see the list but are never listed. Only check in at a track where your team actually is.
Gear listings and messages
- List only items you own and have the right to sell. Describe them honestly and use your own photos. You confirm, when you post, that the item is not stolen.
- Safety gear must show its real standard and dates. Expired safety gear can’t be listed.
- The classes on a listing are what the seller says it fits. Check your class rules; the tech official decides.
- Prohibited items: firearms and ammunition; stolen goods; counterfeit parts, tags or labels; catalytic converters; airbag modules; emissions-defeat parts; expired safety gear; and anything else that is illegal to sell or buy where you are.
- No photos of minors. Don’t use brand names in a way that suggests a manufacturer endorses you or your listing.
- Keep messages about the listing. No spam, no scams (such as asking for gift cards, wire transfers or a shipping agent), and no sharing someone else’s personal info.
- Listings expire and can be renewed. We may limit how many listings you post.
Listings are posted by racers, not PITVUALT. We are not a party to any sale. We don’t process payments, hold money, inspect items or verify sellers or buyers, and we make no promise about any item’s condition, fit, legality, history or ownership, or that a sale will happen. Buyers and sellers deal directly with each other, and any dispute is between them. Meet in person in a public place such as the track, see the part before you pay, and never pay with gift cards or wire transfers.
Copyright: if you believe a listing, photo or comment infringes your copyright, email support@pitvault.io with the details. We remove infringing content and end access for repeat infringers.
10. Third-party services
Weather, maps, app stores, payment processors and other third-party services have their own terms. Track information comes from public sources and racers; we don’t control tracks and aren’t affiliated with any track or sanctioning body unless we say so.
11. Disclaimers
Motorsport is dangerous. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of rules, weather or track data, or uninterrupted availability, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Pistonhouse HQ is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for losses arising from racing, vehicle setup, disqualification, tech results, injury or property damage. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
13. Ending your account
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms, with notice where reasonable, and will give you a chance to export your data unless the law prevents it.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. If changes are material, we’ll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
